Rhythm Vocab Level 2

 8.95

Build up an intuitive sense of rhythm! When students have a solid “rhythm vocabulary” they won’t need to decipher or analyse each rhythm – it will instinctively come to mind.

Description

The idea of Rhythm Vocab cards is to gradually build up a rhythm vocabulary with our students. When students have this vocabulary they won’t need to decipher and analyse each rhythm – it will instinctively come to mind. There are many ways to use these cards in your lessons and make them part of your regular practice and there are four levels so you can build up your students’ rhythm skills over time..

Level 2 includes cards in 3/4 with these note values: semiquavers (sixteenth notes), quavers (eighth notes), crotchets (quarter notes), dotted crotchets (dotted quarter notes), minims (half notes), crotchet rests (quarter rests) and minim rests (half rests).

The main purpose of these cards is to gradually build up a rhythm vocabulary during the course of instrumental lessons, however they could also be used for many other activities.

They do not need to be used in order, and the complete set doesn’t have to be used together. Try introducing just a few of cards in each lesson, and gradually having the student memorise many patterns in this way.

The written instructions are included on one of the game cards and there is a video on how to play below.

  • Theory concepts: 3/4 rhythms
  • Student level: Late beginner
  • Number of players: 1–6 players
