Treble and Bass Clef Notes Dice for Music Games

Treble and bass clef dice for piano teaching games

More dice? Yes more dice, I don’t think you can have too many dice if you want to teach fun piano lessons!treble clef dice

These dice can be used for the same games as the musical alphabet dice, but here’s a few more ideas to keep you going!

  • Improvise using the scale or chord of the note you roll.
  • Play the piece you are currently working on, omitting all the “blanks”.
  • Roll both dice and use the notes as the starting inspiration for a new composition!

How to assemble

  1. Download the treble clef dice and/or bass clef dice and print it out, on card ideally.
  2. Cut around the outside.
  3. Score along the edges of the tabs so they will fold neatly.
  4. Attach the tabs to the inside of the adjoining square using either glue or double-sided tape (how it goes together will make sense once you start!).
  5. Enjoy all the possibilities!

Let me know if you have any questions about the dice below. I’d love to hear any other ideas you have for games as well!

  1. I made scale dice, but mine did not turn out as nice as yours. I printed out stickers of (ex. A, A flat, A sharp). If it was a black key on the piano the background was black with a white letter, and opposite for white keys. The class worked in groups with sets of dice to make an entire scale. I would call out a “key tone” and they would have to work out the half and whole steps to find the key signature. If you have time, please make some PRETTY ones for us!

  2. I love this idea~! The only thing that I found tricky was I noticed some kids would memorize the color of the dice side instead of just memorizing the note! Maybe a simple black and white one with white background would be helpful if possible! Thanks!

  3. You stated above: “These dice can be used for the same games as the musical alphabet dice,” Where would I find those instructions? I’d love some more ideas for how to utilize these dice in my private piano lessons. Thank you!
