The Foldamijig

Do you find yourself saying, “try it again, please” endlessly in your lessons? Do you wish there was a way your students could go over that tricky spot as much as necessary…without feeling bored or irritated?

Enter “The Foldamijig”!

It’s a magical foldable piece of paper that answers the questions around the sticky section once and for all. 🪄

How to Play

• Choose a tricky section to work on.
• Start with the paper folded up.
• Follow the first practice instruction, on the outside of the paper.
• If it’s still difficult, unfold the paper once and follow that instruction.
• Continue like this until you feel like the section is no longer tricky!

Assembly instructions

To assemble The Foldamijig:

• Print The Foldamijig (pages 2 – 3) double-sided. Make sure to print on light paper, not card, to make it easier to fold.
• Score along the black lines. This side will be the inside.
• Fold the paper, short edge to short edge so that the black lines are inside the fold.
• Fold again, short edge to short edge, so that the side with some empty squares is on the outside.
• Fold again, short edge to short edge, so that the side with some empty squares is on the outside.
• Fold once more, short edge to short edge, so that the direction, “Play it the same number of time as the first number in your birthday.” is on the outside.
• You will also need a die to complete some strategies.

Alternatively, you can print the list of strategies on page 4 and randomise these in your own way.
