If you have a floor staff, you have to try this game with your beginner piano students.
Steps and skips is one of those beginning concepts that if not understood, comes back to bite later down the track. If students don’t get directionality and intervals at this basic level – at some point their reading is going to hit a wall.
I made the die by covering over a foam die and then coating with PVA glue (just a white craft glue) to make it more durable. You could equally use an app like DecideNow instead of the die.
You can see more activities about the steps and skips floor staff game here and also grab the grand staff twister floor staff game for your more experienced students here.
What are quick clips?
Colourful Keys Quick Clips are all about giving you a taste of what my lessons are actually like – in action.
I certainly don’t claim to be an expert, and I don’t have all the answers. I just know how much seeing real teaching with real students has helped me to grow and improve as a teacher.
Let me know what you think!
