CKQC007: Teaching intervals on the floor staff

This is video number seven in the series: Colourful Keys Quick Clips. You can catch all the quick clips published so far by clicking here.

Do you have a floor staff? If not, why not?! You can make one super simply and inexpensively and, trust me, you will find so many uses for it.

I love my floor staff and (much more importantly) the kiddos I teach love it too. It gets requested time and time again, because young students need to get up and move!

In this quick clip you’ll see one of the many uses I have for my floor staff – practicing intervals.

This large scale activity is a great preparation exercise for any more detailed interval work such as worksheets or a music theory game– like Interval Sprinterval Shminterval which we played just after this.

What are quick clips?

Colourful Keys Quick Clips are all about giving you a taste of what my lessons are actually like – in action.

I certainly don’t claim to be an expert, and I don’t have all the answers. I just know how much seeing real teaching with real students has helped me to grow and improve as a teacher.

Let me know what you think!

I hope you got some new ideas watching this Colourful Keys Quick Clip. If you have any thoughts or questions, be sure to ask them in the Vibrant Music Studio Teachers group on Facebook or in the comments here.

Make sure to subscribe to my emails and YouTube channel as well to get notified when a new quick clip is published.

If you want more and extended clips of my teaching, be sure to check out the Vibrant Music Teaching library. There’s tons more like this as well as a whole library of teaching games to boot.
