For the first year of instruction, students can opt to take group lessons instead of traditional one-on-one lessons. This is up to each individual student’s preferences. You or your child may prefer the experience of starting something new with peers who are going through the same experience and challenges. Group lessons provide a more social environment, and allow students to learn from each other, play music games together and play ensemble pieces more regularly.
Group lessons are 60 minutes weekly and are paid for by the term. Each term is 10 weeks and costs €185 per student.
- Term 1 runs from September to November
- Term 2 runs from November to January
- Term 3 runs from February to April
- Term 4 runs from April to June
Beginner group lessons are subject to demand, please fill in the form on this page below to register your interest. When there are four students in the same age bracket on the waiting list, I will be in touch to organise.
Weekly music theory lessons allow students to accelerate their learning. These classes prepare students for the Royal Irish Academy of Music theory exams, although students are not obligated to take the actual exams.
Music theory comes to life in our group lessons, there’s never a dull moment! Theory concepts are taught through games, improvisation, technology, crafts, discussion, improvisation and composition. I don’t believe in dry lectures, the fastest way to learn anything is to experience it.
Group theory lessons are 60 minutes weekly and are paid for by the semester.
- Semester 1: 17 weeks September to December €255
- Semester 2: 23 weeks January to June €345

Monthly Piano Parties
There are also group musicianship classes open to students currently enrolled at Colourful Keys. We call these “Piano Parties” because we have so much fun! We explore music theory and history through games and activities. Students may also play pieces in this informal environment, allowing them to get more regular performance experience and become confident playing in front of others.
There are about eight Piano Parties during the academic year, normally on the last Sunday of the month. These classes are reserved on a first come, first served basis and cost €15 each. Groups are organised by age where possible, with 6-8 students in each group. Currently enrolled students will be emailed in advance of each Piano Party and asked to register online.
